San Francisco, Calif. – August 3, 2010 - Birst, a leading provider of on-demand solutions for business intelligence (BI) and analytics, today announced that Mohawk Fine Papers, the largest privately-owned manufacturer of premium papers in North America, has selected Birst to provide its employees with faster, easier access to key sales data. Mohawk employees will use Birst’s reporting and analysis to make better, more-informed decisions.

Mohawk plans to replace its current reporting system with Birst's online dashboards, which will allow executives to easily view high-level strategic information, and drill-down to see more detail as needed. Birst will also serve as an online portal for Mohawk's 60-person sales force, providing immediate access to sales-related information and analysis.
Mohawk is currently using SAP's Business Objects to extract data from its Infor ERP system in order to generate 30 to 40 daily and monthly sales reports that are then emailed to employees. Mohawk began seeking a BI solution and evaluated several, including traditional, on-premise applications from QlikView and Tibco. The company selected Birst's software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution due to its ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness, and because it is a low-risk option that can be quickly implemented with minimal up-front costs.
In the next phase of its deployment, Mohawk plans to use Birst to provide its customer support team with important order-related information, such as the status of orders that haven't yet shipped. The company also plans to add to Birst sales-related data from SugarCRM, and its entire product catalog, consisting of more than 20,000 items. By accessing the catalog through Birst, Mohawk employees will be able to more quickly and easily navigate and search for products by key characteristics such as dimensions and grade.
