John Philip Coghlan | John Hummer | Douglas M. Leone | Brad Peters
John Philip Coghlan has served in prominent roles within the Financial Services industry. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Visa USA. In this role, he was responsible for setting Visa's strategic priorities to maintain its market leadership, as well as integrating Visa USA into a global Visa Inc. that is expected to go public in early 2008. Prior to Visa, Coghlan spent 17 years at The Charles Schwab Corporation, where he rose to Vice Chairman. Over that period, he led each of the client-facing businesses of the company and served as a member of the company's Executive Committee. Mr. Coghlan holds a BA from Stanford University, an MA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, and an MBA from Harvard University.
John Hummer has been in the venture business since 1982. John graduated from Princeton University in 1970 with an AB in English, and received his MBA from Stanford Business School in 1980. During the interim, John was a professional athlete, having been drafted in the first round of the National Basketball Association's annual college draft in 1970. He played for six years and retired in 1976 from the Seattle SuperSonics.
In 1989 John founded Hummer Winblad, with Ann Winblad, soon to be joined by Mark Gorenberg six months later. John's prior investments include Octel, Wind River Systems, Powersoft (where Mitchell Kertzman was the CEO), Extensity, and Global Center (Doug Hickey was the CEO) and he currently sits on the boards of Employease, Starmine, Baynote and Success Metrics.
Douglas Leone focuses on internet and communication investments. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 1988, Doug held sales and sales management positions at Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and Prime Computer. Douglas has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, an MS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University and an MS in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Brad Peters is Chairman and CEO of Success Metrics, Inc. Prior to Success Metrics, Brad was the Senior Director for Analytics at Siebel Systems, where he managed Siebel's analytics platform and applications product suites. During his tenure, the Siebel Analytics product line grew from nearly zero to more than $100 million in annual license revenue, and became the largest global provider of customer-centered analytics products. At Siebel, Brad also led early development of Siebel's internet platform that helped transform it from a traditional client-server solution to a leading eBusiness platform. He also started Siebel's first hosted application business and the industry's first online sales force automation application. Brad began his career as an investment banker for Morgan Stanley in the New York M&A practice. Brad received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He also received a BS and an MS in electrical engineering and computer science from UC Berkeley, where he was a National Science Foundation Fellow and a California Microelectronics Fellow.
